Historian Evan Weiner discusses the 1876: The Presidential Election of 1876, the most disputed election in American history. Samuel Tilden won the popular vote but Rutherford Hayes got one more electoral college vote after party leaders met. There were charges of fraud, there were fake electors and violence against voters took place. Hayes won but his victory brought in the era of Jim Crow in the American south.
